Maldives Sports Corporation has initiated ‘Let’s Play Campaign’ as a Corporate Social Responsibility, to create opportunities for vulnerable and marginalized groups to participate in sports for a healthy lifestyle.
Under this umbrella Sports Corporation has formed Maldives first Deaf Football team. With the formation of the team, practices have been carried out from 06th October 2017. Further Maldives Sports Corporation is planning to have a friendly match with Malaysian Deaf Football Association later this year. For training for the international match Maldives Deaf Football Team has traveled to Lh. Atoll from 22nd to 24th March 2018.
During this trip Maldives Deaf Football team visited to the Fish Canning Factory in Felivaru, Atolls Marine Center in Naifaru and Kurehdhu Island Resort where they practiced Football for a while. Apart from this Maldives Deaf Football Team played a friendly match with Hinnavaru Football Team (Hinnavaru 11). With a win, this match has been a landmark for the Maldives Deaf Football Team. And this initiative by Maldives Sports Corporation has been praised by the population of the island.
While giving an interview to the media after this trip Managing Director of Maldives Sports Corporation highlighted that this campaign was formulated to provide the Social, Physical and Mental Benefits to such groups.
